What is Fire & Flower?
Fire and Flower (registered as United Girls of the World) creates inclusive, nature-based transformative programs for girls and gender-diverse youth as they navigate the important transition of adolescence.
Now more than ever, pre-teen girls and gender-diverse youth face mounting challenges. Social media, bullying, and isolation intensify the effects of gender oppression and the shortage of mentors and role models. Without seeing themselves reflected in the world, many experience a loss of confidence at a pivotal stage in their development.
Our core programs are our FREE Empowerment Programs which are one week day camps offered at a variety of locations across the Lower Mainland of Vancouver. We carefully choose each location based on the proximity to green space and to ensure a safe, intimate setting for our youth. We acknowledge the privilege & responsibility of hosting these camps on the ancestral, traditional and unceded territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-waututh) Nations. Our work centers around one core belief: young people deserve support, care, and meaningful education as they grow into themselves.
We provide programs that blend creative learning, nature-based activities, mentorship, and emotional wellness tools, giving participants the skills, confidence, and community they need to thrive in their futures.
Through group connection and hands-on learning, youth build resilience, self-advocacy, and a stronger sense of belonging. Our programs and workshops are designed to be LGBTQ2SIA+ inclusive, neurodiversity-affirming, and culturally safe, especially for those facing marginalization or systemic barriers.
We exist to bring back the village by providing safe, joyful spaces where youth feel seen and celebrated, and where they can learn about their changing minds, bodies, and communities. From health and environmental awareness, to leadership and peer relationships, our programs nurture the spectrum of curiosities and challenges which exist in the coming of age journey.
